Abstract
The ever-changing world of synthetic cathinones constitutes a major challenge to the provision of current and reliable scientific knowledge on these substances. This chapter briefly outlines major issues and problems related to synthetic cathinones that are discussed in the present interdisciplinary book. It also points to future efforts that are critically needed to develop new effective prevention and intervention strategies aimed at reduction of negative health, social and economic consequences related to the use of cathinones.
