Abstract
Endometriosis may impact on a woman’s life due to its effect on fertility and pain. Pain may be related to her periods or bowel, bladder and sexual function. Symptoms vary depending on the organs affected and the severity of the condition. First line treatment is often medical with surgery reserved for more extensive disease or to enhance fertility. Treatment options are determined by severity of disease and the patient’s priorities. Management of severe cases, particularly affecting the rectovaginal septum, should be in a specialist centre. This chapter deals with litigation relating to the management of endometriosis.
