Clinical Interventions in Systemic Couple and Family Therapy

Abstract

Borderline personality disorders (BPD) of the adult have their origin in some specific and unique circumstances of childhood.

Starting from a clear reconstruction of these circumstances, the authors give clinical description of phases in which BPD develops in adolescence and in adult life. Continuity in interpersonal meaning of symptomatic behaviors between all these phases is particularly underlined. Vignettes are presented which are important for the family-systemic therapist for all these clinical situations.
