Abstract
This chapter briefly analyses three of the most famous nationalist, positive accounts of the war: Flex, The Wanderer between the Two Worlds; von Richthofen (the ‘Red Baron’), The Red Battle-Flier; and Jünger, Storm of Steel. The purpose is to show how nationalist attitudes towards the war evolved over time, while maintaining a continuously positive attitude towards it, towards some of its outcomes and combat in general.
