Abstract

Immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE) is a fundamental technique for detecting and quantifying plasma cell disorders such as monoclonal gammopathies. Samples with abnormal proteins such as M protein on the electrophoresis gel have to be confirmed and characterized by IFE. The principle, reagents, steps, and results interpretation of IFE are explained here.
