Abstract
The GeoArchive Marburg consists of the collections of the former Faculty of Geosciences at the Philipps University in Marburg. After the Hessian State Government closed down the Faculty of Geosciences at Marburg University, the collections have been transferred to the Naturkundemuseum Kassel (Quaternary material) and the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum Frankfurt (the larger part of the collections). The collections comprise more than 165,000 specimens and series, from all stratigraphic periods and localities all over the world. However, a focus of the collections is on the Palaeozoic era and the Rhenish Slate Mountains.
