Abstract
The Prehistoric Museum Hauff is unique in Germany in the fact that it has been family-owned since its beginnings in the early 1900s. The collection is specialized on the mid-Jurassic marine fauna of Holzmaden (Lias epsilon). This famous site has revealed important ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, crocodiles, fishes and many invertebrates, among them the world’s largest colony of crinoids. The highlights are on display in a modern museum building, while the vast scientific collection is being visited by scientists from all over the world.
