Abstract

Global capitalism is a US project to impose a single economic civilisation on human kind. It is likely to fail and is not compatible with Australian democracy. US globalisation and military hegemony is causing disorder and conflict throughout the world. Australia n governance has surrendered principles of peace with justice to neoliberal capitalism and the US imperial project, preparing for more wars and human tragedies. Australia should regain its sovereignty and adopt an independent foreign policy to end its economic, political, and military subservience to US power interests. It should pursue a foreign policy to allow the peaceful emergence of China as a great power and prevent other wars in Asia. A more independent, peaceful, and democratic Australia would reject a predatory trading and investment global regime and support a new international economic order constructed to achieve equity and social justice in the world—both prerequisites for peace on earth.
