Abstract

The focus of this book is on the Apollo Mission Control Center. This is the term coined to identify the one control center that has been named a National Historic Landmark. But in the early days of the space program in Houston, the terms that we employed were the Integrated Mission Control Center (IMCC) and Mission Control Center-Houston (MCC-H), with the latter being standard once building work got started. The building housed two control centers and all the equipment to make them operational but it is only the third floor control center which is the National Historic Landmark (NHL). However, it was not the only national space facility to be considered for the honor.
