Properties of Materials
Materials properties are operational (extrinsic) characteristics of materials. They describe the response of materials to functional loads. The determination of quantity values of material properties requires the combined application of testing, sensing, and measuring. The chapter describes principles and methods to characterize the basic properties of materials, namely mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, and optical properties.
