There are only a few occurrences of Precambrian rocks known in Germany although including the Proterozoic , (Greek proteros: early; Greek zoon: creatures) Archean (Greek archaios: old) and Hadean (named after Hades, the underworld of the Greek mythology, this time period encompasses almost 90% of the Earth's history).
