Films of the Cursed Hungarian Landscape



Through a close textual reading of Kornél Mundruczó’s Delta (2008) and Viktor Oszkár Nagy’s Father’s Acre (2009), this chapter examines the way the directors of Hungarian New Cinema slowly reckon with the Alföld parables and aesthetics of horizontal enclosure and transform the rural landscape into a symbol of decay.
