Abstract
Life is mostly surrounded by uncertainties. Mathematics, as part of life, deals also with them. As an applied mathematician I have decided to relate my own research experiences, a relevant part of my life, so that people from younger generations can appreciate how research topics may appear just by chance. The second message I would like to transmit is that if someone really likes doing research he has to fully commit to it. The reason for it is easy: it delivers plenty of moments of happiness and intellectual satisfaction.
