Abstract
As discussed above, the Lagrange equations give the time evolution of the conjugate momenta (e.g. the momentum, the angular momentum etc.), whose conservation laws are simply related to symmetries of L. A natural question is whether one may get a similar simple derivation of the energy conservation for isolated systems in inertial frames.
