Abstract

An efficient method to transform a radiation of X-ray plasma lasers into a train of sub-fs pulses, as well as to form sub-fs pulses directly in an active medium of plasma lasers is suggested. This method is based on temporal and spatial modulation of the parameters of a resonant transition in absorbing or amplifying medium by a moderately strong IR field propagating in the same direction as an X-ray radiation.
