Abstract
In this chapter, we introduce the key idea of valorization in CHARM, as a particular case of abstract entity (explored in an earlier chapter). Valorizations are defined as abstract entities of a discursive nature that add cultural heritage value to other valuable entities through interpretive processes that have been agreed upon within a group or discipline. Different kinds of valorizations are discussed, including scientific-technical, administrative, community and external ones.
