Abstract
It has been 25 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was implemented. However, discrimination and prejudice against individuals with impairment/disability have continued. The chapter explores factors contributing to continued discrimination and prejudice (e.g., social dominance theory, binary thinking styles, internalized oppression and privilege, the role of beliefs and unconscious learning, cognitive neuroscience research on automatic activation of information processing, etc.).
