Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a generic name of a syndrome that is defined by a glucose value, however there are different types of diabetes with different pathogenesis, so the importance to define the type of diabetes in a newly diagnosed diabetic patient. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, due to an absolute or relative deficiency of the secretion and/or insulin action.
