Abstract
A 64-year old woman sustained a blunt injury to the left eye resulting in a large Zone I limbus to limbus corneal laceration with uveal extrusion. The uveal tissue was reposited into the eye during repair of the open globe injury . After open globe repair her visual acuity remained poor due to uveal tissue that was obscuring the visual axis and a cataract. Five months post-operatively, she underwent a second surgery, at which time cataract extraction with intraocular lens implant, iridoplasty and a corneal limbal relaxing incision were performed. In subsequent months, she also underwent YAG capsulotomy, resulting in a final best corrected visual acuity of 20/40.
