Abstract

Central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) is an umbrella term created by the North American Hair Research Society (NAHRS), which broadly includes previous terms of “hot comb alopecia,” “follicular degeneration syndrome,” “pseudopelade” in African Americans, and “central elliptical pseudopelade” in Caucasians [4]. CCCA is the most common form of permanent hair loss in African American females and is a type of primary inflammatory cicatricial alopecia.
