Slanted Unit Step Response
As was shown before the unit step response is of great importance. But built into the typical treatment is the assumption of abrupt edge effectively making the step ideal. In reality, and sometimes for intentional purposes the unit step will have a finite slope. This would impact both the frequency spectrum and time response. In this chapter we examine the impact of the rise time on the unit step response. We analyze both the impact on the frequency spectrum and time one. We use a few illustrative RLC circuits as demo vehicles and gather some insights into the mechanics of finite rise time.
