Abstract
Although patients with Down syndrome (patients who carrier trisomy 21 mosaics) may have a disposition to develop some malignancies, such as acute leukemias—with a 10- to 20-fold increased risk of developing this kind of disease—they have a markedly decreased incidence of solid tumors. These patients also have a particular profile of treatment-related toxicities [72, 73].
