Abstract
Online marketplaces for consulting are facilitating the matchmaking between independent consultants on one hand and companies on the other hand. The article describes the independent consultants’ motives to work on their own as well as the reasons why consulting firms hire contractors. Furthermore it illustrates how digitalized processes shape the marketplaces’ matchmaking between both parties based on two years of operational business at COMATCH. The description focuses on digital tools within sourcing, matchmaking, feedback and administrational processes. The application based paper ends with a glimpse of future opportunities but does not leave out risks and questions for further research.
