Abstract
This chapter begins by discussing the state of contemporary race relations and the importance of protections being in place to shield people from racist microaggressions and macroaggressions. The author also discusses relevant theoretical frameworks such as critical race theory and existing microaggression theory, before expanding the latter by discussing the relationship between the aggressor (microaggressor/macroaggressor) and the target, responses to microaggressions and macroaggressions, and the spaces where microaggressions and macroaggressions occur. The author also discusses the social, emotional, psychological, and physical consequences of experiencing microaggressions and macroaggressions. The chapter extensively addresses modern racism in its various forms.
