Abstract
Nik Jovčić-Sas (‘The Tradition of Homophobia: Responses to Same-Sex Relationships in Serbian Orthodoxy from the Nineteenth Century to the Present Day’) presents a case study of amnesia and hostility from Eastern Europe. He argues that over the past two decades Serbia has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most intolerant nations towards the LGBTQ+ community. His chapter explores the ways in which nationalism and Serbian Orthodoxy can be located at the heart of the current climate of homophobic discussion and how this discourse has developed.
