Abstract

Research involving the application of assistive robots to support humans during walking, in particular the elderly, are starting to flourish recently. This novelty brings doubts on which are the aspects necessary for robots to carry this task successfully. In this paper, we present a new cloud-based humanoid robot, conceived taking into account a previous feasibility study and an user-centered design approach. Experiments with the robot show its potential as a research tool to socially interact with its partner and walk in different scenarios while collecting gait sensorial data.
