Abstract

This chapter provides a comparison of the leader and the manager in the health-care setting as well as how the LPN fits into each of these roles. A variety of leadership styles will be discussed in the context of the health-care environment and specific traits that define each style and how the LPN fits within the context of one or more leadership styles. The role of the manager will be explored using Patricia Benner’s novice to expert nursing theory.
