Abstract

The original solution proposed by von Neumann and Morgenstern, now known as the stable set, still keeps game theorists busy. We cannot live with or without the stable set: apart from certain special classes of games, it is notoriously difficult to find if it exists at all. Yet researchers still study the stable set as, it is conceptually attractive. In this chapter we provide a brief overview of the results on the extension of stable sets to partition function form games.
