Abstract
Film has been a large part of modern culture since the late 1800s. Today, film is a mainstay in modern society, however from its beginning it has gone through growth spurts that are guided by great minds and occurrences representative of the eras. You can see technologies and practices that blossomed from the field’s earliest creators. Understanding the history of film puts into perspective just how much the field has matured, and how fortunate we are to be budding filmmakers at such a unique time in the field’s development.
