Abstract
More than 50 countries around the world have an organized set up in the field of wind power. With China emerging as world leader, surpassing US, large progress in wind power has been witnessed in the countries of the European Union especially Germany. Developing countries like India, Brazil, have also added significantly large capacities over past few years. New wind energy markets are also emerging in Africa, with South Africa, Morocco and Kenya giving a special attention to their renewable energy programs. In the past few years, a new frontier for wind power development has also been established in the sea. With offshore wind parks beginning to make a contribution, the possibilities of using wind energy systems worldwide are likely to increase many times in the future.
