Abstract

U-LTE provides users with high quality of service, yet it may generate strong interference to other unlicensed systems if no proper resource allocation is performed. In this book, we thoroughly investigate and improve on the coexistence technologies of U-LTE with other unlicensed systems over the unlicensed band. Specifically, we first analyze the performance of existing coexistence technologies, and identify key issues in terms of fairness and protocol overhead. A new coexistence mechanism has been carefully designed to achieve a more efficient and harmonious coexistence among U-LTE and Wi-Fi over the unlicensed band. Further analysis is performed to optimize the performance of the proposed coexistence technology, which has also been validated by system-level simulations.
