Faculty recruitment and retention: recruitment and retention of faculty preceptors in resident-faculty clinics has become increasingly challenging in the setting of growing demands on productivity, adequate reimbursement, and relative lack of institutional emphasis on teaching and valuation of clinician educators.
Multiple interventions such as protected faculty time, teaching RVU programs, enhanced institutional recognition of clinician educators in the promotions and tenure process, faculty development programs, and mission-based care can enhance faculty recruitment and retention.
