Abstract
Nowadays, we use many small objects that are transforming our habits, our behaviors, and more generally our societies. We are surrounded by these objects which can communicate with their environment and exchange data, which offer us more and more services, facilitating our activities, and with which we interact frequently. But how these objects can communicate via the Internet knowing that they do not have their own IP address? To answer this question, several solutions are proposed in the literature. In this paper, we propose an approach based on modulo-2 addition between the network prefix and the tag ID of non-IP object to derive an IPv6 address of the tag from its ID. In this way, the NonIP-IPv6 mapping provides a better solution for objects because it minimizes the chances of address conflicts in the network given the large number of IP addresses to identify given objects in an IoT context and accelerates the program execution time.
