Abstract

From its first post in 2008, the Mothers in Medicine (MiM) blog has provided a space for sharing anecdotes from the front lines of motherhood and the practice of medicine. It has served as a way for women to support one another and provide guidance, share experiences, and offer a variety of perspectives on navigating the challenges of this cross-section of callings. It has also served as an avenue for women who are interested in pursuing, or who are already in the throes of pursuing, medicine and motherhood. Though each woman’s experiences and opinions are unique, certain themes have emerged over the years. The advice offered by the writers of Mothers in Medicine in response to the most common questions and concerns is collected below and reflects the input of women practicing in a variety of specialties and settings, speaking from every point along the spectrum of training.
