Abstract
A rolling sea of swaying grass that is the steppe in May. The rigid pipeline following the road towards the horizon. Lines of poplars in their flush of spring green. A cluster of steel grey towers standing over a bundle of pipework. The lake, reed flanked and sparkling beneath an azure sky. Muddy puddles held in a square of bare earth. A symphony of skylarks exalts unseen from the sky. Distant clanking and squeals of earth moving trucks.
