Abstract
A wireless security monitoring system is developed for chemistry and chemical engineering laboratories (CCEL) (or dangerous goods warehouses). The field information of each laboratory node is received through the handheld terminal, which realizes the functions of remote wireless monitoring and controlling. A wireless sensor node for CCEL was designed in this paper to detect the information such as fire, gas leaks, and abnormal sound in the laboratory. Once the insecure information is detected, the corresponding execution devices can be controlled according to the node’s decision algorithm. The detection and control information and the field image would be transmitted to the handheld terminal at the same time. It also can alarm quickly in order to minimize the risk of life and equipment loss in the laboratory. The experimental results show that the wireless security monitoring system developed in this paper can detect the on-line danger information in CCEL, so that the management personnel can monitor the safety status of the laboratory and take effective protection measures in time. Therefore, the system developed in this paper has applicative values.
