Abstract

The discussion of representations in the preceding chapter focused on techniques for constructing new representations from given ones. In particular, we saw that the representations of simple relation algebras are precisely the amalgamations of disjoint systems of square representations; the study of representations of simple relation algebras therefore reduces to the study of square representations. We have not yet looked at questions of representability for concrete classes of relation algebras. That is the task of the present chapter.
