Abstract

Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is an indispensable component in the management of diabetes. The goal of MNT during pregnancy is to provide nutrients to sustain the developing fetus while maintaining euglycemia and avoiding ketosis. This chapter provides an overview of the recommendations for a healthy diet including carbohydrate counting and the role of protein and fat.
