Abstract

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is the most serious complication of uncontrolled diabetes. This chapter reviews the pathophysiology of DKA and includes a discussion of the clinical presentation, common precipitants of DKA during pregnancy, and the diagnosis and treatment of DKA. Fetal consequences of DKA and timing of delivery are discussed.
