Abstract
The establishment of research ethics committees (RECs) in the Arab Region has increased during the last decade in response to the increased research that has occurred in this region. However, the extent of their functioning remains unknown. Accordingly, there has been a growing interest in establishing mechanisms to regulate and assess the operations and functions of RECs.
