Delirium in Elderly Patients

Abstract

Delirium is an acute alteration of cognition hallmarked by disorganized thinking and inattention. It is one of the first recognized mental disorders that had a historical past for more than 2500 years. The concept began with the description of the clinical aspects of delirium over the centuries; indeed, the reported signs and symptoms of the disorder remained consistent through the centuries, but the terms to refer to it varied. Being a very noteworthy illustration of combining behavioral and medical symptoms since the very early centuries, it deserves to be discussed.
