Abstract
Degenerative Modic type I endplate changes in the lumbar spine can mimic infection on conventional MR sequences. FDG PET/MR imaging is an excellent modality to differentiate degenerative changes from osteomyelitis/discitis by combining MR signal characteristics and physiological information related to glucose metabolism.
