Abstract
This chapter introduces a basic algorithm in attempts to streamline the process of emergent neuroimaging. The algorithm allows for rapid identification of patients requiring emergency intervention and emphasizes the next steps when the initial brain image does not fit the patient’s physical findings. The algorithm presented is based on CT imaging. Medical centers that use MRI as the modality of choice for neurological emergencies can still apply this algorithm with the simple substitution of CT for MRI. For brevity and general application, we focused on CT.
