Abstract
This chapter tracks the introduction of a dual-language model into a UK school, with total immersion tracks in four European languages. The journey is described through the narrative of Jackie Holderness, founding member, school governor, and Chair of the Education Committee, an insider to the change process from first concept to implementation. The dual-language model was designed to promote European bilingualism and multilingualism in Europa School UK (ESUK), a state sector mainstream school. Through her interactions with multiple other participants in the process, the insider-narrator shows how and why this opportunity was conceived by its founding members, how it has been taken up by families in the local community, and how the vision is being realised by its teachers and leaders.
