Cultivating Compassion in End-of-Life Care: Developing an Interprofessional Learning Resource Based on Digital Stories
In this chapter, Howkins and Hardy describe the development of an interprofessional educational resource for health professionals working in the sensitive area of end-of-life care. Based on a collection of digital stories created by people receiving and delivering end-of-life care, the resource aims to provide an unusual learning opportunity to reflect on learners’ own experiences and those of others, explore values and emotions, and discover the importance of working collaboratively. The challenges of interprofessional education are explored, the innovative design of the resource is examined in some depth, and the benefits of situating digital stories at the core of such a resource are considered.
