Abstract
As a researcher, you should always strive to be the first in the world to present new research outcomes. It is a great achievement to be the second person to climb Mount Everest, but everyone will always refer to the one who reached the summit first!
The fastest route from conceiving new research results to being the first to publish, is to present your project and your scientific message at a scientific conference.
Scientific conferences vary greatly in size. Some comprise less than a hundred participants, while the larger international conferences can include several thousand participants. Joining a scientific conference can, therefore, be an overwhelming experience. Regardless of its size all conferences are usually structured in the same manner. The same overall concepts apply, and gathering a little knowledge on the basic concepts of conferencing prior to attending will improve your outcome of the conference significantly. This chapter is designed to do exactly that.
