Abstract

This chapter considers the role of rewriting in the broad theatrical sense through an examination of the different published versions of the play El paraíso recobrao by the Cuban theater group Teatro Escambray, a group that formed at the end of the 1960s as a response to the claim that theater was too distant from the people and made revision and collaboration a central tenet to their originating purpose.
