Abstract
Not all surgical procedures are granted to have three choices of anesthesia as the open groin hernia operation. The optimal anesthetic method has to meet several demands. It has to be simple and as safe as possible with low postoperative morbidity. It must be able to offer the patient a painless operation, guarantee a fast recovery without postoperative side effects, and has to be cost-effective. Finally, it is essential to remember that for an operation to be successful, the patient should be pleased with it.
