Abstract
Rectal prolapse affects up to 0.5% of the population in the United States, but its prevalence rises with age. Single-incision minimally invasive rectopexy with or without resection is an excellent treatment option to both minimize recurrence and expedite recovery. The two keys to technical success in this surgery involve carrying the dissection completely down to the pelvic floor and successful suturing of the rectum to the sacral periosteum. To facilitate successful surgery, it is often beneficial to employ a robotic surgical platform. Herein we describe the most effective ways to complete this surgery from a single-incision technique both robotically and laparoscopically.
