Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery

Abstract

Skin-sparing mastectomy is accepted as an oncologically safe procedure for appropriately selected patients proceeding to either therapeutic or risk-reducing mastectomy that enhances the cosmetic outcome with immediate breast reconstruction. This chapter outlines the factors behind patient selection and surgical technique, and discusses contemporary data pertaining to postoperative complications and long-term evaluation of oncological safety.
